Lay-Buy Policy
Last Updated: 1 September 2026
Weyland — Built for Men offers customers the option to purchase selected products through a lay-buy arrangement, subject to the terms set out below.
Our lay-buy service allows a customer to reserve a product and pay for it over an agreed period before taking the product home.
1. How Lay-Buy Works
When a lay-buy is arranged:
The customer selects an eligible product.
The total purchase price is agreed at the time the lay-buy is started.
An initial payment or deposit is required to secure the lay-buy.
The customer then makes further payments according to the agreed payment arrangement.
The product will be released to the customer once the agreed purchase price has been paid in full, subject to the terms of the lay-buy agreement.
The specific payment schedule will be confirmed with the customer when the lay-buy is arranged.
2. Deposit
A deposit is required to start a lay-buy.
The required deposit amount will be communicated to the customer before the lay-buy is accepted.
The deposit and subsequent payments will be recorded against the customer's lay-buy.
3. Product Reservation
Once a lay-buy has been accepted and the required initial payment has been received, the agreed product will be reserved for the customer, subject to the terms of the lay-buy.
A reserved product will not normally be available for resale while the customer's lay-buy remains active.
4. Payments
Customers are responsible for making their agreed payments on time.
Payments will be recorded against the outstanding balance.
Customers should keep proof of payment until the lay-buy has been completed.
The remaining balance will be communicated to the customer where reasonably necessary.
5. Completion of Lay-Buy
Once the full agreed purchase price has been paid, the customer may collect the product or arrange delivery where such delivery is available.
The product remains the property of Weyland until the full purchase price has been paid.
6. Cancellation
If a customer wishes to cancel a lay-buy before it has been completed, they must contact Weyland as soon as possible.
The treatment of payments already made will depend on the circumstances of the cancellation and applicable South African consumer law.
Any cancellation fees, deductions or refunds will only be applied where legally permitted and where the applicable terms were communicated to the customer.
7. Missed Payments
If a customer does not make payments according to the agreed arrangement, Weyland may contact the customer to discuss the outstanding payment and the status of the lay-buy.
Where a lay-buy is not maintained for an extended period, Weyland may cancel the arrangement in accordance with the agreed terms and applicable law.
Customers will be given reasonable notice where required.
8. Changes to a Lay-Buy
Any change to the agreed payment arrangement should be discussed with Weyland and confirmed before the change is treated as effective.
Changes may be subject to the availability of the product and the circumstances of the lay-buy.
9. Collection
The customer may collect the product once the lay-buy has been paid in full.
Customers should bring appropriate proof of identification and/or proof of the completed lay-buy where requested.
10. Delivery
Where delivery is available, delivery arrangements and any applicable delivery charges will be communicated to the customer.
The product will only be released for delivery once the lay-buy has been paid in full, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
11. Faulty or Defective Products
Nothing in this Lay-Buy Policy removes or limits a customer's rights relating to defective, unsafe or faulty goods under applicable South African consumer law.
Where a product has a defect or other qualifying problem, the customer should contact Weyland so that the matter can be assessed and the appropriate remedy determined.
12. Product Availability
Lay-buy arrangements are subject to product availability.
Once a lay-buy has been accepted, Weyland will make reasonable efforts to reserve the agreed product for the customer in accordance with the lay-buy arrangement.
13. Proof of Payments
Customers are encouraged to retain receipts, payment confirmations and other proof of payment until the lay-buy has been completed.
Weyland may request proof of payment where necessary to reconcile a customer's account.
14. Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Lay-Buy Policy is intended to remove, restrict or replace any rights that a customer has under applicable South African consumer protection legislation.
Where applicable, customers retain their rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008.
15. Changes to This Policy
Weyland may update this Lay-Buy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our business practices, products, services or applicable legislation.
The latest version will be published on this page.
